Referring cases:
1) Please give clients the office number (636-220-4155) and/or the portal STLVRA.com. Business cards with contact information and our website QR code are available upon request.
2) Please clarify to the client which type of ultrasound you are wanting the them to set up.
Abdominal- This exam evaluates the organs contained within the abdomen (Liver, gallbladder, spleen, kidneys, adrenal glands, urinary bladder, prostate, reproductive organs, stomach, intestines, pancreas, lymph nodes. ) Thoracic (NOT a cardiac echocardiogram) - This exam evaluates cardiac structures within the thorax, including: plural space, mediastinum, lymph nodes, thoracic body wall, external lung margins, pericardial space. Please referral all heart patients to VSS or the University for cardiology consults. Musculoskeletal - Evaluation of the shoulders or iliopsoas musculature, external musculature of the limbs or body, external masses, swellings. Thyroid/cervical - Evaluation of the cervical soft tissues, lymph nodes, salivary glands, thyroid glands, vasculature of the neck.
Aspirates - Diagnostic and therapeutic fluid collection. Patients must have had a recent ultrasound. Any exceptions must be approved by the radiologist before the appointment. Biopsies are not currently available due to the lack of availability for true anesthesia.
Radiograph consultation - with written report. Rad requests for Dr. Brumitt should sent to his personal email. If you have questions or concerns about rad requests to Brumitt please contact him directly via his phone or email.
Sedation:
We have the following medications available on site: 1) Torbugesic - IV 2) Dexdormitor/Antiseden - IV and IM 3) Alfaxin - IV or IM
We also welcome oral medications sent with the client prior to the scheduled ultrasound exam, prescribed by the referring veterinarian.
If you feel any specific medication should be avoided in a particular patient, please feel free to contact us, and we can work out what is best for your individual patient.
